Tandem paragliding over the Benasque Valley, Pyrenees
In the Castejón de Sos area, tandem paragliding is a fascinating experience, even for the little ones. It's common for children to take to the skies, like this 3-year-old, as seen in the video.
To ensure their safety and comfort, flights with children are carried out early in the morning, when conditions are optimal, as thermal turbulence often appears with the heat of the sun starting around midday. Children enjoy the experience without fear or phobias, allowing them to fully experience the moment, and many of them want to repeat the adventure the following year.

What is a tandem paraglider?
A tandem paraglider is a type of paraglider designed to carry two people at a time: a pilot and a passenger. It's like an aerial adventure for two, where you can feel the adrenaline rush while enjoying spectacular views.
The idea is that the pilot handles everything, so you just enjoy the flight.
It's perfect for those who want to try this experience without having to learn to fly solo.
Imagine floating through the skies, feeling the wind on your face and the excitement in your stomach!
How many types of tandem paragliders are there?
When it comes to tandem paragliders, there are several types you can try.
Two-seater foot, this is the classic flight, ideal for enjoying the view while floating in the air.
Takeoff and landing are carried out with a short run between the instructor and the passenger.
To reach takeoff, we will climb for 40 minutes along an unpaved runway until we reach above 2,000 meters.
Speedtandems: If you're a snow lover, there are skiing accessories that allow you to glide and take off from a snowy slope. It's called a Speedtandem.
For takeoff, we took the chairlift from the Cerler ski resort, for which passengers will need their own ski pass.
Paratrike is a tricycle with three wheels and a motor, allowing it to take off from almost any location or accessible terrain without physical need.
Suitable for people with reduced mobility.
Perfect if you're looking for adventure without relying on the wind!
So now you know: there are options for all tastes. Let's fly!
What does a passenger need to know to fly a tandem paraglider?
First, it's important to choose a reputable paragliding company; safety is key!
Before taking off, listen carefully to the pilot's instructions.
You'll need to wear a harness and follow its instructions to ensure everything is properly adjusted. Dress comfortably and, if possible, bring a light jacket, as the air can be a bit chilly.
Finally, get ready to enjoy the view and the feeling of freedom; it will be unforgettable!
What do I need to bring to fly as a passenger in a tandem paraglider?
1. **Clothing**: Choose light but warm clothing. A long-sleeved shirt and fleece are great. Wear comfortable pants, such as joggers or hiking pants.
In winter, it is best to wear three insulating and windproof layers.
2. **Glasses**: Sunglasses are a must. Look for ones that fit well so they don't fall off during the flight.
3. **Gloves**: Lightweight gloves will help keep your hands warm without losing mobility.
4. **Sneakers**: Bring hiking or athletic shoes with good grip. Avoid sandals!
5. **Jacket**: A windproof or waterproof jacket is ideal, as the weather can change.
Get ready for an incredible experience in the air! 🌤️✈️
What is a tandem paraglider, Speedtandem?
The Speedtandem is a type of paraglider specifically designed for two-person skiing, making it perfect for those looking to share the experience of free flight during the winter.
Unlike conventional paragliders, the Speedtandem features a more robust design and a smaller surface area to ensure stability and allow for smooth skiing during descents.
This type of paraglider allows an experienced pilot to carry a passenger, whose requirement is to have an intermediate skiing level (red).
It's ideal for enjoying breathtaking views and feeling the adrenaline rush of speed that this small paraglider allows you to achieve while flying close to the relief.
So if you ever dare to fly in winter, the Speedtandem will make you feel like you're floating on your skis!
What is a two-seater paratrike flight?
The tandem paratrike flight is an exciting experience designed to allow you to enjoy a paragliding flight without any prior knowledge.
This type of flight is carried out on a lightweight, three-wheeled vehicle, which combines a paraglider and an engine, allowing the pilot and passenger to take off and land without having to run.
The idea is for the experienced pilot to steer the trike while you relax and enjoy the scenery from above, in a comfortable seat.
It is ideal for not depending on the wind, and being able to take off from any location or field enabled.
Getting on a paratrike may be just what you need!
Do you dare to take a trip around the sky?
Can a person with reduced mobility fly?
Of course!
Flying on a paratrike is an incredible experience, and although it may seem complicated, people with reduced mobility can enjoy this adventure.
In the paratrike we take off and land with wheels, propelled by an engine.
The great thing is that they are designed to be accessible.
Many companies offer services specifically adapted for people with reduced mobility.
This includes seats and safety equipment that make flying easier.
Before flying, it's a good idea to speak with the instructors to make sure all your needs are covered. They'll guide you through the entire process and ensure you feel comfortable and safe.
So, if you're eager to experience the sensation of flying, don't hesitate to give it a try! The experience of floating above the landscape is simply unforgettable. 🌤️✈️
How long does a tandem paragliding descent last?
It depends on the flight booked.
The standard flight lasts approximately 20 minutes, which is the time it takes to descend from takeoff to landing.
The Premium flight lasts approximately 40 minutes.
On this flight, we looked for rising thermals to get better views of the Pyrenees.
Which one would you choose?
What is the maximum weight of a passenger in kilograms to fly in a two-seater?
The maximum passenger weight depends on the size of the paraglider.
A two-seater is approved for the following weight ranges, which vary depending on the model or brand:
Size 37, weight range 90 - 190 kg
Size 40, weight range 90 - 220 kg
Size 42, weight range 120 - 240 kg
This range would be the sum of the total weights in flight, for example:
Tandem paragliding equipment = 20kg
Instructor = 80kg
Passenger = 80 kg
On average, the normal passenger weight would reach up to 100 kg, but with a larger sized paraglider and a lightweight instructor, they could fly with a 120 kg passenger.
